Counterweights.

The telescope can be easily balanced in all on axis and off-axis planes, even with heavy accessories fitted.

Mount.

Internal fixed counterweights which are located inside the top of the encoder arm offset the weight of the Declination motor drive system. These counterweights are fitted during assembly at the factory, but can be re-weighted at any time.

Internal adjustable counterweights to balance the telescope in R.A. are located inside the bottom of the fork arms. These weights can be accessed via hatch covers at the base of the fork arms. The counterweights are dynamic and can be moved as required and then locked securely in place.

Tube Assembly.

On Axis Balancing.

The Accessory Bars located on the top and bottom of the Optical Tube Assembly enable an external sliding counterweight system to be added. As standard equipment two counterweight bars are fitted each 530mm long and each carries a 2.5kg stainless steel counterweight. Each counterweight has two positive locking screws to hold in place. Additional counterweights are available as optional equipment.

Off Axis Balancing.

There are provisions for off axis counterweights to be added radially to the outside of the main telescope tube casting. The counterweights are 1kg and can be purchased as optional equipment. Also, further accurate counterweighting can be achieved without the Telescope Accessory Mounting System.
