Anssen Technologies German Equatorial Mounting System - "Ellesa".

Images of Ellesa.

The images included here were taken on the day of the completion of the Ellesa (April 3, 2006) and should be considered only as temporary until more formal photographs are taken. The images are of the Ellesa Observatory version, complete with optional counterweights, Maxi-Plate, Observatory Pier Series 273 and the Astro-Electronic FS2 Drive controller. The Ellesa is temporarily fitted to a purpose built workshop trolley for ease of use including testing with optical tube assemblies.
The labelling on the pier is for promotional purposes only in preparation for the Fair in Germany on May 18, 2006 and is not intended to be included on production piers.
Due to camera anomally/interpretation the Ellesa appears much larger than it is in real life. In two of the photos a size comparison has been made with people to show actual relative size. It should be remembered that the RA housing is only slightly larger in diameter than the RA worm wheel, which is 306mm (12 inches) in diameter.
